Arizona guitar giant becomes public company
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Fender Guitars has filed for a public IPO that will make the company a publicly traded company on Wall Street.
It's a sign of how far the music giant has come in last 60 years since its conception.
"Fender has been around for a very long time and they've become a favorite among musicians," said April Salomon, director of exhibits and multimedia for the Music Instrument Museum. "They've done a lot in terms of innovation."
Fender has been the choice brand for musical greats such as John Meyer, Eric Clapton, and Green Day. They've become trailblazers in designing guitars, basses, drums, and amplifiers. In short, they are a brand that has made helped tailor the music industry in to what it is today.
"I think it's a feel, and a sound that Fender innovated that draws [musicians]to those particular instruments," said Salomon.
Fender refused to comment on why the company has decided that now is the time to go public. However, a representative says the new IPO will be out within the next three to four months.
