“Our dreadnought early on was pretty boxy, and the Jumbo was kind of a big square thing, too — kind of the American Dream take on the J200 or the big Guild stuff, back in the ’70s,” Bob recalls.
In 2003, the dreadnought underwent a major revoicing to give it a more competitive identity among flatpickers. A cannon, it boasted 50 percent more volume and a stronger bass response, and yielded a potent growl when players dug in without upsetting Taylor’s sonic balance.

A busy weekend for wine lovers...
If you can't find something to do this weekend where you can have fun drinking, eating, looking at art or listening to music (or even three out of four), then you aren't trying...
Whole Foods Market (3100 Cahaba Village Plaza, 205-912-8400) is continuing their big 20% off case sale on wine through May 1, so the store will host some wine tastings to help you pick. No charge for tasting. On Saturday, April 30, there's a tasting from 1- 3 with Mark from Alabama Crown and another from 3- 5 p.m. with Mark from Pinnacle. On Sunday, May 1, Stephen from The Source Distributing will pour from 2- 4 p.m.
The Vintage Wine Shoppe (432 Cahaba Park Circle, 205-980-9995) will host the finale of the "Thunder from Down Under" South American wine tasting on Saturday, April 30, from 3- 4:30 p.m. No charge but please bring a canned good for Oak Mountain Mission. There's also a gift sale and a sidewalk sale.
You can gawk at all the glorious art at the ONB Magic City Art Connection show in Linn Park downtown from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1. There's music too and activities for kids. But from 1- 4 p.m. both days, you'll want to head over to the Corks & Chefs tent to taste delicious dishes from local restaurants and caterers and try the wines (or a few beers).
