These are some of the nicest gibson guitars (i think)

This is a very reluctant auction of my 2005 Gibson SG standard in heritage Cherry finish. This guitar is in absolutely stunning, as-new condition. I am only selling because I very rarely play it and it stays locked away in the case. It has only been carefully used (at home only) very occasionally and has never been gigged. The photos do not do the guitar justice. I have included some outside shots that I took when I first bought it brand new. They were taken in bright sunlight and illustrate the lovely translucent finish showing the unusual grain of the wood. Since these were taken the colour has mellowed a tad and the later shots taken indoors show the classic deep red / brown that the finish has matured into. I cannot find any marks. scratches, knocks etc anywhere at all. If I were to be really picky I would only point out some incredibly light surface marks on the scratch-guard ( not even plectrum marks!) The neck is as straight as the day it was built and the frets show no signs of wear at all. Electrics all work as they should. I wont bore you with the spec of this guitar as I am sure you if you are reading this you know exactly what you are looking at. Suffice to say that it plays like a dream and sounds exactly as you would expect from a guitar of this quality. The sound from the pick-ups is incredible from Blues to AC/DC rock crunch. Even unplugged its sounds amazing. A testament to the quality of the materials used and craftsmanship of Gibson. I searched long and hard for this SG, and tried many before settling on this one. The sound and playability is that good and it has a unusual grain which the pics don't do justice. Included in the sale is the original fitted Gibson hard case which is in perfect condition and has never had the combination lock used. You are very welcome to come and view this guitar if you wish or should you want me to send any specific high res pictures by email please contact me. I have not included a postage cost as I would much prefer the guitar to be collected. (Norwich area) I have no experience of shipping guitars but don't feel I could trust a courier company. If you really want the guitar shipped to you - I will oblige provided you arrange & cover the cost (including insurance) A quick scan on the web shows that these retail new at a shave under £1000 (if you can find one this good). A friend in the trade tells me that there is a shortage of good Gibsons in the UK at the moment and that the vast majority are in solid painted finishes (which you cant see the quality of the wood used / or if the body is made up of several glued pieces) so you have an opportunity to grab your self a bargain, which if kept in this condition, will only appreciate in value. Or if you want a solid, reliable guitar at a bargain price, save yourself a fortune on the new price. I promise you will not be able to tell that this guitar has not just been unpacked from new. New strings have just been fitted so it's ready to go. No silly offers please. They will only be ignored. You know what this guitar is worth and I am in no hurry to sell. Very best of luck in the auction. I will be sad to see it go but hope that the winning bidder appreciates this guitar and most importantly, plays it!

Jack Grassel and Dan Smocke Interview: Building the Perfect Guitar With the decline of Gibson and Fender over the years, two things have happened to the guitar industry, there has been a dramatic rise in more affordable, foreign-made guitars, and the private, small luthier market has also grown in leaps and bounds. |
