Will refinishing my acoustic guitar change the sound, and will it decrease the value?
Its a Gibson Gospel 1970,s model. The clear coat on top has some cracks but nothing is wrong with the body.

Older guitars frequently have this- it’s called checking, and it really doesn’t affect the sound- take it to a reputable shop-I don’t mean Guitar Center-look for a small local place-with its own tech in-house -talk to them about the guitar-you should be able to get some good tips about caring and preserving it.
