Comments: Here is one you don’t see every day. You are looking at an all original ‘87 USA Gibson U2 electric guitar with original hardshell case. It comes from the days of big hair and even bigger chops. The guitar is essentially Gibson’s take on the super Strat- Floyd Rose licensed tremolo and HSS pickup configuration along with some slick toggle switches. What makes it different from the Strat style is the set neck design for maximum sustain. Top it off with master control and tone speed knobs and you have quite the beast here. The body features front cream binding and a rear Strat style belly cut. Obviously, the hockey headstock is not something you would expect from Gibson, but this was the 80s afterall. The underlying goals of the Lacey Act, including protecting endangered species and promoting stewardship of environmental resources, can and should be upheld, and federal laws ought to give prosecutors the necessary criminal enforcement tools to pursue bad actors. But defects in the Act have led to some of the worst examples of overcriminalization. Whether the Act is used to secure jail terms against importers of Honduran lobsters because they did not package the product according to foreign law or whether it serves as the basis for repeated raids against the Gibson guitar facility for alleged violations of Indian export laws, the Act is ripe for meaningful reform.
