Weekend brings blues, jazz, folk, classical
The weekend brings an eclectic blend of musical opportunities: the blues, folk, jazz and classical.
For blues fans, the place to be is the city's top club for the genre, Uncle Bo's, on the lower level of the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th, where the Wichita-bred, nationally-recognized Moreland & Arbuckle will perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Guitarist Aaron Moreland and vocalist/harpist Dustin Arbuckle create what The New York Post calls "a raw, dirt-under-the-fingernails garage-band attack in almost every song that flips between Stax-style soul, stinging Chicago blues and Allman-style jams."
With Kendall Newby on drums, the act is touring in support of their latest CD, "Just a Dream," which was released last summer on Telarc International, a division of the Concord Music Group.
Since its release, Moreland & Arbuckle has been on the road with the likes of ZZ Top, George Thorogood, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Los Lonely Boys and others.
