The Music Voyager series has traveled around the world to give viewers an inside look into the world’s most popular and exciting music. Now, Bristol’s unique role in country music is in its spotlight.
Last August, producers for the show made a stop to film an episode for the new series, “Music Highway: Interstate 40.” It will air at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Blue Ridge PBS.
The show follows music critic Jacob Edgar through local cuisine, off-the-beaten-path attractions and parties only the locals know. Along the way, he receives an eye-opening voyage through trendy downtown hot spots, recording studio jam sessions and rollicking rehearsal rooms.
“We have filmed all over the world and then the idea got tossed around to come to the United States. This series will give people a new perspective on Tennessee. There’s so much more than just the sound, there’s more to it than just the sound, it’s about culture, food, and the people,” said Executive Producer Farook Signh.

Theater review: 'Lonesome Traveler' at the Rubicon Theatre Events span from 1920s backcountry archival forays by the likes of John Lomax to the 1965 Newport Folk Festival at which Dylan controversially "plugged in" via electric guitar rather than acoustic. Time and place are established by documentary images |
