Gay Lyons' People & Parties: Autographed guitars kick off evening for ...

The sold-out annual major fundraiser for the Tennessee Theatre, Stars on Stage, raised almost $120,000 to help support Tennessee's Official Theater. Among the most actively sought auction items of the night was a guitar signed by the featured performer, First Lady of Country Music Loretta Lynn. A spirited competition yielded a winning bid of $16,000, but thanks to the quick thinking of Maureen Bosch, a second guitar hastily obtained by AC Entertainment was auctioned to the second highest bidder for $15,000! Needless to say, the live auction conducted by auctioneer Sam Furrow literally "set the stage" for a fantastic concert, which concluded with the artist's signature hit, "Coal Miner's Daughter." Volunteers assisting with the auction were provided by Variety, the children's charity, under the direction of Matt Willard of Regal Entertainment Group .

Themed "Tennessee Legends," the Stars on Stage event included its traditional reception with fare prepared and donated by the five preferred caterers of the Tennessee Theatre, but this year the food embodied an upscale twist on Southern fare. Some of the crowd favorites included Knoxville Catering's new red potatoes stuffed with Benton's bacon and Sweetwater Valley Farm cheddar cheese and drizzled with Mayfield's buttermilk creme fraiche, All Occasions Catering's fried bologna mini biscuits, Rothchild's deviled eggs and mini grilled cheese sandwiches, Rosa's Jack Daniel's bourbon balls and Luxe Catering's baby waffles with fried chicken.
