I’ve been playing fingerstyle acoustic blues/folk for about seven years now, I play for several hours a day, and these are my favorite strings. Their sound is mellower but still bright- meaning they don’t have that tin sound common to fresh strings, and they hold up longer. They don’t break often (and I really snap my strings). Also, because of the coating your fingertips don’t stick to the strings- it’s so much nicer that I consistently notice when I pick up someone else’s guitar that other types of strings grab at your fingers- not preferable. They are not much more expensive than other brands if you buy them online. I use the nanoweb custom lights (want to be somewhat gentle with my old guitar). On the down side, you may get spoiled with them….

Chris Treadway: More musical talent coming to Point Richmond
Call the music of Rita Hosking and her string band Americana. Call it country soul. Call it mountain music or folk.
When the award-winning singer and songwriter brings her ensemble to the intimate and acoustically inviting space at First Methodist Church of Point Richmond, 201 Martina Ave., on Friday, the music will draw from experiences in her native Shasta County. Expect to hear about "mountains, forests, small towns and kitchen tables, springs, loss, miners, mountains, culture clash, trailers, stray dogs, loggers, hope and forest fires," delivered in her intense style.
Hosking, a favorite performer at folk festivals, brings her mountain music to town as part of the Point Richmond Acoustic series. Accompanying her is the string band Cousin Jack, featuring Sean Feder on dobro and banjo, Andy Lentz on fiddle and Bill Dakin on upright bass.
Opening the show is Bobby Joe Valentine, an honored songwriter and Petaluma native who accompanies his own vocals with guitar and ukulele.
